Vortex Grit Remover
The XLCS Type Vortex Grit Remover is engineered for grit chambers and aerated grit chambers in sewage treatment plants, efficiently lifting and conveying mixtures of sewage and heavy particles such as sand and sludge from tank bottoms to pipeline-connected sand separators.
Main Structure and Working Principle
The XLCS Type Vortex Grit Remover comprises an impeller, transmission shaft, motor, reducer, and sand suction system.
Inlet water enters the tank tangentially, creating a vortex controlled by the vortex mixer to regulate flow velocity and pattern. Water carries sand with adhering organic matter, which is separated by the stirring shear force of paddles. Sand sinks to the central sand hopper via gravity and vortex effect, while separated organic matter overflows upward. Accumulated sand is lifted by an air lift pump or sand pump, then enters the external sand-water separator with minimal sewage for separation and discharge; the sewage returns to the grille well.
Additionally, impeller rotation reduces the vortex tank's sensitivity to flow pattern changes from inlet water volume fluctuations, ensuring stable grit chamber operation and low organic content in discharged sand.
